About Us

Michelle graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Geography and Environmental Studies. She moved to Alaska in 1999. Her interest in the glass world began in 2002 when she took her first stained glass class. Since then she has been fascinated with glass. Michelle is inspired by the different colors, patterns, and textures of the glass. Her passion for glass coincides with her love for the outdoors and the Alaskan landscapes and nature. Design ideas come from the beauty found in nature, and her art is a way for her to express her love for the natural world around her.
After working with glass for a couple of years, Michelle made the decision to open up her own retail studio and established Denali Arts & Glass Studio in 2004. It not only gives herself, but a lot of other Alaskan artists an outlet to sell in.
Michelle’s focus is in stained glass, fused glass, and mosaics. She enjoys blending all of these techniques into artwork that is not only decorative, but also, usable, functional, and wearable art. The possibilities of working with glass are endless, and keeps her coming back for more.
When Michelle is not working on glass projects, you will likely find her fishing in the summertime or cross country skiing in the winters.
